For both businesses and the market that they are selling to, the management of plastic waste is becoming increasingly important. Consumers are growing increasingly informed and concerned about how companies handle their waste. Not only do we believe that all businesses have a moral duty to be aware of the impact they have, but we also believe that the market is going to demand it more and more.

The impact of plastic on the environment and how it affects marine life and ecosystems across the globe is, right now, of the greatest global concern. Our plastic consumption continues to rise, yet we are too slow to adopt the practices to make our businesses more sustainable.

We at Plastic Expert can help your business meet its social and moral obligations through our PET recycling services. By taking in some of the most prominent and common plastic waste produced today, we can help you maintain more eco-friendly operations and reach higher recycling rates

Did you know that could get paid for your PET recycling efforts?

We are more than happy to help you arrange a PET bottle recycling scheme in your business. In fact, we will even buy the bottles from you for the purposes of PET recycling. This includes not only bottles, but bottle tops, plastic scrap, and anything else that is made of polyethylene terephthalate.

Simply send us a dozen or more high-quality photographs of your PET load. After that, we will have an account manager contact you to inspect the materials further. This will allow us to make a buying estimate for the whole load.

We will ensure that you get a fair return on your PET recycling materials, based on market prices, weights, volume, quality, contamination, and more.

Why invest in PET plastic recycling?

Besides the moral obligation of the matter, consider your consumers and their motivations. Recent studies show that millennials, the fastest growing consumer group, aren’t just motivated by how a product addresses their needs or its price, but they are also more likely to pay for products that are made by environmentally sustainable businesses.

As such, if your business has plenty of PET bottles and other PET products, we will be happy to help you find a better use for them. PET recycled products are becoming much more common due to the efforts of businesses that are willing to recycle them.

Besides the market advantage, your business could potentially save money that might otherwise be spent on less efficient ways of disposing of your PET plastic. You can become a leader in your field, demonstrating the kind of environmental stewardship that can convince other companies in the industry to follow, ensuring that they also maintain their own corporate social responsibility.

Furthermore, a PET bottle recycling programme will help your employees become more aware of their own impact on the environment, making a positive influence overall. Furthermore, they may also be more engaged and motivated by a workplace that makes a positive change to the world.

Will contamination affect whether you can recycle a PET bottle?

Since PET plastic is regularly used for beverage bottles, shampoo bottles, and other food/chemical products, the plastic can become contaminated. This also happens when the plastic is mixed and stored with non-recyclable plastics.

In the case of local authority recycling programmes, this may mean that the plastic is unable to be recycled. However, we go through a process of sorting and chemical washing to ensure that the risk of plastic contamination is reduced and that your plastic is of the right quality for recycled PET material when it comes out on the other end.

The PET recycling process

We collect your PET into a shipping container or another high storage vehicle. The load is then squashed down into bales to that it is easier to transport. From there, we sort through all the plastic, dry clean it, and separate it to ensure that all of the PET is in one pile.

The different plastics have different melting temperatures, but before they go through that process, they have to be shredded. We use machines that break the bales or pallets of PET down into tiny flakes, which are washed and sorted based on thickness. For food product waste and PET bottle recycling, we may also need to use chemical solutions to decontaminate them.

Lastly, we will melt down the granules or flakes, so that they can easily be reshaped into a range of PET recycled products. Recycled PET material is still highly usable, so it can be made into a wide range of products that are ready to go onto the market.

Uses of recycled PET material

When PET plastic is recycled, it can become a variety of things. In many cases, it can become another beverage container, such as the milk jugs we all frequently see on the store shelves. PET can also become things like t-shirts, fleece jackets, sweaters, insulation for clothing, sleeping bags, plastic fibre for carpeting, and much more.

Contribute to a healthier planet today

PET plastic still remains one of the most frequently used plastics on the globe. Reducing your use of these plastics is helpful, but you can go a step further by joining us in a PET recycling programme. You can make sure that your plastic waste, whether used by your employees or in your manufacturing and service processes, ends up in the right hands that can make the best possible use of them.

Feel free to get in touch with us if you would like to get underway with a PET bottle recycling programme. However, this is only a small part of what we do.  We would be glad to take a range of old plastics off your hands, including UPVC windows, polystyrene foam, and much more.
